The Security Team of the Future Will Be Human + AI Teammates

Security teams have more capability than ever. Detection got better. Alerting got smarter. Yet teams are just as stretched as innovation moves at an ever faster pace.

The problem isn’t visibility. It’s capacity.

Copilots help, but they still wait for someone to ask. And the work that falls through the cracks is often the work nobody had time to ask about.

The next step can permanently advantage defenders.

Agentic AI teammates (virtual employees) know what you want them to do and do it.

Take vulnerability remediation: when a critical exposure appears, the AI teammate investigates the context, finds the right owner, executes the fix, follows up, and verifies it’s actually resolved. You step in when judgment is required.

As trust builds, it can take on more of that work autonomously.

Some things should stay human: risk acceptance, board communication, consequential decisions. But much of what buries security teams is rote tasks, coordination, follow-through, and making sure the work actually gets done.

Humans make the decisions. AI teammates carry the work around them.

Security has always been about doing more with the capacity you have.

Now, part of that capacity can be an AI teammate.

Attackers aren't going to use less AI. Defenders shouldn't either.
